Crowns and Bridges in Lindenhurst, NY

Black man holding his jaw and smiling at dentist, lindenhurst nyAt Pearly Place Dental, our goal is to help you keep your teeth for a lifetime, so when you have a tooth that’s damaged or decayed, we will do everything possible to protect it and restore its function. A dental crown covers your entire tooth, keeping it from further damage.

If a tooth cannot be repaired and needs to be removed, or if you have missing teeth you want to replace, dental bridges can fill the gaps in your smile and allow you to regain your confidence.

Dental Crowns to Protect Your Teeth

We use dental crowns to restore and protect your teeth; crowns allow you to chew your favorite foods, and they look remarkably like your natural teeth. Not only that, but dental crowns don’t require any special care.

We may recommend a dental crown for these situations:

  • To replace a large filling
  • To protect a broken or decayed tooth
  • To strengthen a tooth after root canal therapy
  • To restore a tooth after a single dental implant

Why You Need Dental Crowns in Lindenhurst

Dental crowns are incorporated widely across dentistry because they offer a variety of essential uses. Below, we explore why you may need or want a dental crown.

Tooth Lengthening

A worn tooth is more than unsightly. It can also throw off your bite surface, leading to even more wear and tear. A dental crown can lengthen a short tooth!

Tooth Repair

After an injury or significant damage to your tooth, the dentist may recommend capping it with a crown to preserve its integrity and prevent fracture.

Tooth Restoration

We use crowns in tooth replacement, such as implant dentistry and dental bridge anchoring. They can also conceal most cosmetic flaws.

What Is Involved in a Dental Crown Procedure?

Diagram of a tooth crown, lindenhurst nyAt Pearly Place Dental, the dental crown procedure consists of the following steps:

Tooth Preparation

The first step in the dental crown process involves removing some of your tooth enamel to make room for your new crown.

Impressions

Next, we take impressions of your tooth and send them to a dental lab so they can create your crown.

Temporary Crown

While the lab creates your crown, we will place a temporary crown over your tooth to protect it.

Dental Crown Placement

The last step of the dental crown process involves cementing your permanent crown in place and checking the fit. That’s it!

A Dental Bridge Replaces Missing Teeth

We can attach a dental bridge to two healthy teeth on either side of your missing teeth, giving you a seamless smile. A dental bridge is an effective way to restore a gap in your smile if you’re missing between one and four teeth.

What Is Involved in a Dental Bridge Procedure?

Group of mixed race people at a winery smiling taking a selfieIf you decide a dental bridge is your best tooth replacement option, here is what you can expect from the procedure:

Crown Preparation

To support your dental bridge, we will first prepare the tooth on each side of your missing teeth for dental crowns. We will remove some of the enamel, take impressions, and send them to the dental lab.

Temporary Bridge

We will create and place a temporary bridge to protect your teeth until your permanent prosthetic teeth are ready.

Bridge Placement

Once your permanent bridge is ready, we will remove the temporary bridge, clean the area, and check the fit of the new bridge before cementing it into place. The final step involves removing any excess dental cement and polishing your new bridge.

When you take care of your dental bridge by practicing good oral hygiene and visiting your Lindenhurst dental office for regular checkups, you can expect it to last for many years.
